Class Descriptions

CLASSES

Monday through Friday 4:00, 4:45, 5:30, 6:15 and 7:00.  On Saturday we have 10:00, 10:45, 11:30, 12:15 and 1:15  classes.

4:00 – 4:45 on M/T/W/TH/F,  4:45 – 5:30 on Mon/Fri, 10:00 – 10:45 on Sat
All Children/Adults In these classes students learn how to focus their attention, execute basic and advanced techniques in line drills and work both in groups and independently.  We use focus pads or kicking towers to practice techniques or work on Forms, One Steps and Combinations.  On Fridays 4:45 – 5:30, we focus on Forms.

4:45 – 5:30 Tues
Children – Green Stripe to Black Belt
These classes are for upper belts. First half will be line drills, second half can be Forms/Test Review or Technique practice.

4:45 – 5:30 or 6:15 – 7:00 Wed, and 10:45 – 11:30 Sat
Light Sparring
These classes are for Yellow Stripes and above. Yellow Belts and above must spar during Promotion Tests so you should try to attend a few classes before testing. Please see me if you need to purchase sparring gear. The goal is to gain self confidence through self defense in a safe and secure environment.  This class is intended to help you learn how to defend yourself against an opponent. The first half of the class consists of footwork, punching and kicking drills. The second half focuses on partner sparring. Punching, blocking and kicking are taught and then practiced. Sparring classes are a great way to build stamina while learning how to improve your reaction time.  Parents, we would appreciate your help putting sparring gear on your child until he/she can do this on his/her own.

4:45 – 5:30 Thur
Children – Black Belt Program members only
This program is for students who are committed to getting their Black Belt and have signed up for a longer program. The focus is on more detailed and in depth learning of techniques, and test preparation. It also includes Matwork and Board Breaking.

5:30 – 6:15  Mon, Wed and Thur
All Ages
These classes are for All Belts.  The first half of class class is Line drills which are used to teach techniques for all belt levels. Second half can be Techniques practice or Forms, One Steps and Combinations

5:30 – 6:15 Tues – Children Red Stripes and above and Adults/Teens
This class focuses on Movement and Mobility. Classes can include joint mobility exercises, ground movement, footwork, punching drills and kicking techniques. We also incorporate core strengthening exercises as well as stretching techniques.  The basic goal is to increase body awareness and improve overall functionality.

5:30 – 6:15 Fri
Green Stripe and above Children and Adults/Teens
This class focuses on Forms, One Steps and Combinations. Yellow Belt Children may receive Permission to attend this class.

6:15  Mon – Techniques
Children Blue Belt and Above and Adults/Teens 12 & up
Blue Belt and above children may take these classes.   We focus on Kicking and Striking Techniques.

6:15  Tues – Forms
Children Green Stripe and Above and Adults/Teens 12 & up 

Green Stripe and above children may take these classes.  We focus on Forms, One Steps and Combinations in this class.  Students must be able to work independently.

6:15 Thur – Black Belt Program members only
Children 12&up and Adults/Teens 
This program is for students who are committed to getting their Black Belt and have signed up for a longer program. The focus is on more detailed and in depth learning of techniques, test preparation, grappling and self defense. This program includes unlimited classes.

6:15 Fri – Full Range Sparring Drills
Children Red Belt & up and Adults/Teens 14&up
These classes are preparation for Full Range Sparring in Boston, a minimum number of attendances is required in order to qualify to try and take the Black Belt Test.  We recommend that students start attending these classes as soon as they have completed their 12 required Light Sparring Classes as a Red Belt.

7:00 – 7:45 Mon, Tues, Wed and Thur
All Ages

These classes are convenient for working parents and/or adults who need a slightly later class. The first half of class class is Line drills which are used to teach techniques for all belt levels. Second half can be Techniques practice or Forms, One Steps and Combinations

10:00 – 10:45 Sat
All Ages

10:45 – 11:30 Sat – Light Sparring Yellow Stripe and Above
All Ages

Yellow Stripes and above can attend this class, with instructor permission. Yellow Belts and above must attend as they spar during Promotion Tests, and are required to attend a minimum number of times in order to test based on their belt rank. Please see me if you need to purchase sparring gear. This class is intended to help you learn how to defend yourself against an opponent. 11:30 Sat – ALL FORMS
Red Stripe & up – All Ages
This class is highly recommended for students who need to learn or review all of the Forms – Chunji through Choong Mu, as we will go through all of them. We will also review Black Belt Forms, while Colored Belts continue to practice their forms.

12:15 Sat – Advanced Sparring
Adults/Teens 12&up, (Children Red Belt & up with a partner) – Full Range Sparring/Stamina building
The first half of the class consists of footwork, punching and kicking drills. The second half focuses on partner sparring. Punching, blocking, kicking and grappling techniques are taught and then practiced. Sparring classes are a great way to build stamina while learning how to defend yourself.  This class incorporates more stamina building techniques.  Red Belt Children 11 and under need to attend with a partner.

1:15 Sat – Black Belt Forms and Techniques
Black Belts Only – We will be reviewing Black Belt Forms Techniques, Demonstration Practice including Board Breaking techniques and unique Forms formations, and Test Review.   Demonstration Practice and Instructor Training can also held during this class.
