After a few days of being a black belt in taekwondo, it gives me more of a sense of responsibility. It hasn’t fully sunk in yet, but it really feels good knowing that I have been working on getting it for more than half of my life and I finally got it. Whenever I look at my black belt, it makes me feel happier, albeit only a little, but still. Getting my black belt makes me feel proud.
From Ryan’s Mom:
There were several times that Ryan became frustrated and thought about stopping while he was working toward getting his black belt but having such a concrete goal made it easier for him to focus and persevere. Now that he has earned his black belt, he is motivated to continue with Taekwondo to improve his skills and work toward his 2nd Dan. I’m very proud that he was able to work through his challenges and earn such an incredible honor that recognizes his hard work, determination, and skills.
