No SUGAR CHALLENGE!

Open to all members – children, teens and adults!  This is a 30 day challenge that will run from January 12th through February 10th. The goal is to go without sugar for as many days as possible, however many days that is.  Everyone is encouraged to try.  We know how hard this can be.  Students who go without sugar and submit a 30 day Google Documents Food Log will receive prizes, based on how many days they can live without SUGAR!  Parents must make sure that children read labels as there are many hidden sugars in foods.  The safest bet is to avoid all processed foods and stick to whole, natural foods.  Fruit is the safest sweet option during this month.  We will allow dried fruit in small quantities.  Artificial sweeteners are not allowed. Honey, Stevia, Agave are also not allowed.  We will publish a list of the most common sugar labels that you need to make sure to avoid.  There will be a sign-up sheet at the desk.

Sugars to Avoid:  No artificial sweeteners are allowed such as Splenda. Basically if you eat something sweet and it is not fruit or dried fruit you cannot say you had no sugar that day.  Also, if the food comes in any kind of a package or bag, can, glass or plastic jar, you must read the food label to make sure it doesn’t have any of the following ingredients in it.  You are allowed to sweeten baked goods with bananas, apple sauce or dried fruit in moderation.
